Academy Travel Plan
Our Academy Travel Plan is supported by the whole school community and demonstrates our long-term commitment to improving safety and reducing congestion on the roads.
It aims to reduce car use and enable parents and children to choose walking or cycling with confidence and seeks to cut congestion at the school gate. The Academy Travel Plan is a whole school initiative and demonstrates commitment from children, staff, parents, trustees and the wider community.
All parents are asked to adhere to a “Parking Promise” and are encouraged to park further away from the academy and walk. If however you find the need to park near or outside the academy, please do not park on bends, on junctions or where the children cross the road. Please also be courteous to our neighbours and do not block driveways.
We are working to build strong relationship with local residents and areas locally. We are confident that we can build strong link with the local community by parking safely and considerately.
Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel. The scheme encourages schools across the country to join in a major effort to increase levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of children and young people.
Kingsbrook View is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a Bronze award by Modeshift Stars!
To gain this accreditation, we have developed a programme that:
- Encourages pupils to be more active through cycling and walking
- Has a team of staff, pupils, parents and local residents who are committed to ensuring healthy and sustainable school travel
- Identifies traffic and transport issues for the Academy
- Reduces the number of cars outside the Academy to improve air quality and help lower the impact of school related traffic on other road users
