Academy Committee

THE ROLE OF THE ACADEMY COMMITTEE

Inspiring Futures Partnership Trust (IFPT) Board have established an “Academy Committee” for Kingsbrook View Primary Academy. The overarching purpose of an Academy Committee is to support and provide effective challenge around the strategic direction and performance of the relevant academy within the framework and parameters set by the Trust Board. Those serving on an Academy Committee are accountable to the Trust Board and must ensure that at all times they act in good faith and in the best interests of the academies and the Trust, exercising reasonable care and skill having particular regard to the personal knowledge and experience. The role and responsibilities of the Academy Committee is detailed in the Academy Committee Terms of Reference.

An Academy Committee’s core duties are:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Effective challenge of the principal for the educational performance of the academy and its pupils
  • Effective review and challenge of the financial performance of the academy to ensure that its money is well spent.

The diagram below highlights where the Academy Committee sits within IFPT’s governance structure.

Academy Committee Chair

Mr David Allsop - Community Trustee

I lived in High Wycombe as a child and was educated at the Royal Grammar School. My first career was in the Royal Navy for thirteen years; I then worked in Defence contracting before changing my career path and becoming a Youth Worker in Wycombe. I was ordained as an Anglican Minister in 1999 and worked in churches in and around Little Chalfont; amongst my many other duties, I was a governor in a Church School until I retired.

I am still active as a town centre chaplain in Aylesbury and serve on the Executive of a youth charity. I am married to Elizabeth and we have three adult children and seven grandchildren. My pastimes are reading, writing, walking and the allotment!

Academy Committee Vice Chair

Mrs Kam Ahumibe - Parent Trustee

Kam moved to High Wycombe in 2014 and lived there up until 2020 when she moved to Kingsbrook, Aylesbury with her family. Kam currently lives with her husband and their three children, two of which attend Kingsbrook View Primary Academy. Kam is a Legal Compliance and Governance professional and has worked in various sectors performing similar roles for over 8 years. In her spare time, Kam loves to read, travel and cook delicious meals for her family.

Mr Jon Turner - Head of Academy

I have been in the teaching profession for almost 20 years and ensuring children receive a high-quality educational experience is a real driver for me. It is an absolute privilege to be the Head at Kingsbrook View Primary Academy and I have a clear vision of where our Academy is going and how we get there. The support we receive from our Trustees, Academy Committee and the wider community is really valued and a vital component in our journey ahead as we move from strength to strength.

Mrs Susan Marshall-Clarke - Community Representative

I retired in 2018 after working as a Counsellor in a GP surgery and then in a further education college for 19 years. I began by lecturing in ‘A‘ Level Psychology and the Diploma in Counselling courses and later the PGCE teacher training programme. I then worked in various curriculum management roles before becoming Head of Quality. Within that role I also managed cross college staff development and co-wrote, lectured on and managed the PGCE course for Westminster University, London.

I have two children and three grandchildren.  I enjoy travelling and reading.

Mrs Rachel Fellah - Community Representative

I worked as a primary school teacher for 10 years, predominately within early years, with the latter period spent as EYFS Phase Leader. A key aspect of my role was instilling a love of books and stories in the children I worked with. I still work in education and am currently training to be a Therapeutic Play Practitioner with Play Therapy UK. I am passionate about promoting children's mental health and wellbeing. I look forward to working with the team to ensure that the school provides an enriching education for all of the children at Kingsbrook.
